About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
The Dental Care Access Foundation, Inc. (DCAF) was founded in 2004 by a group of compassionate local dentists who witnessed far too many people in our community suffering from dental pain, infection, and swelling, all with nowhere to turn for help. They came together to create a solution: a volunteer-driven foundation dedicated to serving those who otherwise go without care.
Our work addresses both urgent dental needs and long-term prevention. We provide critical care for those in pain and at risk of serious infection, while also investing in outreach and education to stop problems before they start. From treating emergency cases to visiting Title One schools with preventive resources, we’re committed to improving oral health at every level. At the core of our mission is a deeply held belief: oral health is health, and dentistry is not a luxury—it is a necessity.
To recognize and support our volunteers, we offer one hour of continuing education (CE) credit for every hour of service.

While progress has been made, the urgent need for dental care in our community remains overwhelming. Local hospitals continue to see countless patients suffering from severe dental pain, infections, and swelling. Many of these individuals cannot afford the high costs of hospital visits and are left unable to pay for the dental treatment they desperately need. Too often, they leave without true relief or healing.
Hospitals usually offer only temporary fixes, such as antibiotics or pain medicine, that fail to heal their dental needs. This leaves patients trapped in a painful cycle of untreated infection and discomfort, putting their overall health and well-being at serious risk.

Thanks to the compassion and dedication of our volunteer dental professionals, DCAF was able to provide free and charitable dental care to 7,515 individuals last year, delivering $648,282 worth of donated treatment. These volunteers don’t just provide treatment - they restore dignity, relieve suffering, and bring hope to thousands, transforming lives by healing urgent dental needs and giving those without a voice a chance to smile again.
